"We should develop our lasting friendship through economic cooperation. I wish you every success in Serbia," Nikolic said, noting that the cooperation should also imply investments in joint production.

CBI President Ying Guoping said he was glad to open the joint office in Belgrade, adding that they would try to connect Asia and Europe, bring Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong closer to Belgrade, in an effort to strengthen economic and cultural ties.

Earlier on Thursday, Serbian Construction Minister Zorana Mihajlovic talked with a delegation of CEFC and CBI about prospects for new Chinese investments in infrastructure projects in Serbia.

Serbian Minister of Agriculture Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic talked with representatives of China Energy Company Limited (CEFC) which demonstrated interest in investing in several segments of the Serbian agriculture industry.

Representatives of the Chinese company showed interest in investing in the meat, dairy, fruit and vegetable industries, given China's huge demand for the products, the Serbian agriculture ministry said in a release.

A special emphasis was placed on the existing and potential capacities for producing lamb, beef and pork, reads the release.

Bogosavljevic-Boskovic pointed to the south of the country where there is a large number of underutilized capacities and quality pastures and meadows.

The two sides agreed to set up a working group that will consider all the potentials and investment opportunities, and tour prospective locations.
