The ICJ’s opinion on Kosovo would not have negative effects on the Serbian economy, experts say. Businesspeople and economists all believe that there would be no negative effects of the international Court of Justice’s opinion, despite the deep analysis and various international and political aspects that accompany the decision. No negative economic effects of ICJ decision Even though Serbia expects a planned EUR 2bn in investments to arrive this year, only one-fourth of that sum has been realized thus far. However, Economy Ministry State Secretary Nebojsa Ciric is convinced that the ICJ decision would not affect the economy negatively. “Indications that we have show that direct foreign and domestic investments are continuing. We expect that they will end up reaching the level of last year’s investments, and could possibly be greater,” Ciric said. “Some other results that we have achieved this year are very good, so I do not believe that the ICJ decision can affect the arrival of direct foreign investments, or have any kind of negative effects on the country’s economy,” he said. No negative economic effects of ICJ decision

Even though Serbia expects a planned EUR 2bn in investments to arrive this year, only one-fourth of that sum has been realized thus far.

However, Economy Ministry State Secretary Nebojša Ćirić is convinced that the ICJ decision would not affect the economy negatively.

“Indications that we have show that direct foreign and domestic investments are continuing. We expect that they will end up reaching the level of last year’s investments, and could possibly be greater,” Ćirić said.
