DIV renamed British American Tobacco

Vranje Tobacco Industry (DIV), founded in 1885, has seen the board of shareholders pass the motion of the BAT/DIV executive board to change the company's name.

Vranje Tobacco Industry (DIV), founded in 1885, has seen the board of shareholders pass the motion of the BAT/DIV executive board to change the company's name. The southern Serbia-based cigarette maker is now called British American Tobacco (BAT). DIV renamed British American Tobacco Gradimir Milic, a business relations manager at BAT Vranje, confirmed for Tanjug that DIV has been renamed British American Tobacco, adding that the new name is "the necessary step toward the full integration of the Vranje factory into the BAT family". BAT, the world's second largest cigarette manufacturer with 56,000 employees in 180 countries, bought 70 percent of DIV shares for EUR 5 million back in 2003. BAT has since invested EUR 115mn in the facilities in Vranje and quadrupled cigarette production.

Gradimir Milić, a business relations manager at BAT Vranje, confirmed for Tanjug that DIV has been renamed British American Tobacco, adding that the new name is "the necessary step toward the full integration of the Vranje factory into the BAT family".
