The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has called on the government to stop hiding the truth from the citizens regarding the real epilogue of recent IMF talks. LDP leader Cedomir Jovanovic said that the party is asking for an emergency parliamentary meeting for discussing the economic and social situation in the country. LDP asks for truth behind IMF talks “Tardiness and procrastination are the basis of the economic and social strategy at this moment,” Jovanovic told the Beta news agency. “That is why the real epilogue of the talks is being hidden from the public, that is why they believe that everything will be alright if the parliament is sent any kind of proposal for a new pension law,” he said. The government and International Monetary Fund (IMF) reached an agreement for the fourth revision of their credit arrangement several days ago, which will enable Serbia to withdraw another EUR 380mn. Jovanovic reminded that his party presented a program for getting out of the economic crisis, which includes changes in the taxation system for VATs and lower taxes and contributions for wages. Jovanovic criticized the economic policies of the Serbian government, stating that “Many ministers, especial Labor and Social Policies Minister Rasim Ljajic, are trying to convince the citizens that the government did not make a mistake and how the fourth revision of the arrangement will enable them to continue their populist projects.” Cedomir Jovanovic (FoNet)
