Infrastructure Minister Milutin Mrkonjic said that negotiations for a strategic partnership for the sale of Jat will begin in March. He said that it was agreed that the air travel company’s management will enter discussions with future strategic partners without which the state would have a hard time selling the company. ”Jat negotiations in March” “Without a strategic partner, the state will have a hard time getting Jat to the position of being a serious company, which is the state’s main interest,” Mrkonjic said while visiting work on a bridge in Kraljevo. He said that company management was given the task of preparing basic elements, and that it will report to the government on March 1, after which negotiations will continue with potential strategic partners. Mrkonjic added that the new Jat management, elected in July of last year, developed a program for the realization of company recovery and sanation. “In this program it states that Jat finished last year with losses of EUR 20mn, which the government will pay. For this year they asked for guarantees of EUR 40mn in order to break even, without the purchase of new planes, which they do not have money for, and with the current fleet,” Mrkonjic said. “As far as I’m concerned, it is good for our people to be included in the strategic partnership and for a company that is solvent to take Jat and realize the program,” he said.
