International Monetary Fund official in Serbia Bogdan Lissovolik says the IMF will ask for balanced and credible measures for securing fiscal sustainability. Lissovolik told Belgrade daily Danas that he did not wish to comment on the recent economic measures of the Serbian government, because of the “sensitivity of the coming talks”. “IMF will ask for credible measures” "Currently, we are making new macro-economic and fiscal projections and we are not in the position to give precise numbers. Despite some recent and significant improvements in the global economy, our projections for Serbia are worse in the final balance than the basic scenario of the program,” Lissovolik said. He added that some measures which the government has taken have “expansive” while others have “restrictive” effects on economic activity. According to Lissovolik, it is too early to give exact projections on the effects of the adopted measures since their implementation is still ongoing, adding that the results are yet to materialize. Belgrade has six more days to prepare for the arrival of the IMF’s delegation, and the government has yet to reveal its plan for the meetings. The measures, which are needed in order to receive another installment of the loans from approved by the IMF, were not on the agenda of the cabinet’s meeting on Monday. Daily Blic writes that they are expected to be discussed on Thursday. Finance Minister Diana Draguitnovic "completed the calculation on how much could be saved with each measure, but has not proposed any concrete measures yet", according to the daily’s sources.
