Italy’s Fiat has given the Serbian Economy Ministry plans for building 14 factories for the production of automotive parts and one bus factory in Kragujevac.

Italy’s Fiat has given the Serbian Economy Ministry plans for building 14 factories for the production of automotive parts and one bus factory in Kragujevac. According to a local weekly in Kragujevac, the documentation includes plans for facilities in the industrial zones just outside Kragujevac, adding that the total worth of the projects is close to EUR 240mn. Fiat submits plans to ministry These are the initial business plans of the Fiat automobile company in Serbia, weekly Kragujevacke stated. According to the plans that were submitted, there will be facilities of 14 Italian companies built on a parcel of 35 hectares, which will make up the accompanying industry of the Serbian Fiat company. On a neighboring parcel of 20-25 hectares, Iveco, a company that is a part of the Fiat Group, will build a factory for the production of buses. The project plans, which where given to the Serbian Privatization Agency, include detailed plans of the facilities along with communal, energy and all other accompanying infrastructure. Serbia and Fiat signed an agreement in September 2008 for joint investments into the Kragujevac-based Zastava company, and forming a joint company between Fiat and the Serbian government, which was founded on October 14. The agreement calls for Fiat investing EUR 200mn into the Serbian automotive industry. In the factory for the production of the Punto, a joint company is also planned as being the only producer of the new Punto model for the EU market. For this plan, a production facility with a capacity of producing 200,000 automobiles a year is also planned. (FoNet)
