The infrastructure minister has paid an official visit to a tunnel and bridge that are part of the Belgrade bypass. Milutin Mrkonjic visited the sites last night to see how work was progressing during the night shift. He said that the bypass project was crucial for the trans-European Corridor 10, and would also ease congestion in the capital. According to the minister, that section was the most economical way of linking the two corridors—on the one hand to Greece and Turkey, on the other to Romania. The minister said that the works were going to plan, and that the government and the City of Belgrade would make every effort to complete the bypass by the deadline. Construction site foreman Aleksandar Milovanovic said that Planum employees had introduced the night shift last week, and that they had already resurfaced 2.5 kilometers of tarmac on the road leading to the tunnel.
