The Government of Serbia adopted the decision: Quotas for enrollment in faculties adopted
Prime Minister of Serbia Prof. Dr Djuro Macut stated that the Government of Serbia adopted the decision on enrollment quotas for faculties for the next academic year at the session today.
The quotas, as he said, were not adopted only for the three faculties in Belgrade, but they will be defined when they start with tuition reimbursement.
"Quotas have been assigned to all faculties in Serbia based on last year's quotas, except for three faculties that are part of the University of Belgrade and the University of Arts in Belgrade. They are the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and the Faculty of Applied Arts, which will wait for their quotas until the moment they start working and when they show that they have initiated a compensation mechanism for the end of the current academic year," Macut told Tanjug.
He pointed out that enrollment quotas were adopted in accordance with the efforts of the Government of Serbia to continue and maintain continuity in politics in relation to higher education.
Macut said that the decision on enrollment quotas was made in the process of long-term dialogue and coordination with universities that has been going on for the last few months.
"After the start of the work of this government, in the second half of April, we had very intensive talks with all the state universities in Serbia, with which we tried to start the mechanism of work at the universities, which was extremely difficult and demanding, but with mutual cooperation we achieved very good results," the Prime Minister pointed out.
According to Macut, the universities in Kosovska Mitrovica and Novi Pazar have successfully completed classes, while the universities in Niš and Kragujevac will do so in less than a month.
"We had difficulties working with some universities, such as the universities in Belgrade and Novi Sad, but primarily in Belgrade, so the enrollment quotas in relation to the start, i.e. compensation of classes, are being determined at this moment," said Macut.
Speaking about the entrance exams, the Prime Minister said that it is planned to deliver professional instructions for the implementation of enrollment in the first half of July, where all elements of enrollment and the manner in which they will be implemented will be elaborated in detail, ending on October 31 of this year, by which time it is considered and necessary to officially end this academic year and start the new year.
"There will be clarifications for all faculties with instructions on how to implement it, and the enrollment itself will take place at the end of July, that is, in the last week of July," underlined the Prime Minister.
