Vučić meets with World Bank delegation: Productive meeting focused on energy security PHOTO
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met with a senior World Bank delegation led by Charles Cormier, Director for Regional Infrastructure for Europe and Central Asia.
“An extremely productive meeting with the World Bank delegation focused on Serbia’s energy security, the progress of ongoing projects we are working on together, and plans for accelerated development of our country in several different areas,” Vučić wrote on his Instagram profile.
“We exchanged views on the far-reaching challenges facing the energy sector globally and, in particular, regionally. I emphasized that, in this regard, Serbia’s cooperation with the World Bank largely relies on the institution’s insights and practical solutions, whose extensive experience in planning major energy projects gives our country the opportunity to successfully and quickly implement ambitious plans regarding the diversification of supply sources and the country’s energy security. Special focus was placed on the development of new gas and oil infrastructure, as well as energy efficiency measures for public and residential buildings.
“We also discussed the latest World Bank report on Serbia, and I expressed gratitude for the realistic assessments highlighting that Serbia’s economy has shown resilience to recent shocks thanks to responsible fiscal policies and efforts to reduce public debt. I thanked the World Bank delegation for excellent cooperation, agreeing on the next steps,” he added.
