Last month, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited the workstations at Minth’s humanoid robot factory in Šabac, where he was shown how humanoid robots are assembled and their movements and cameras are calibrated.

“I am certain that we have taken a historic, pioneering step into the future. Serbia has stepped into the future today. Serbia has shown today that it can move forward at a pace that many other countries in Europe, including far more developed ones, cannot match,” Vučić said.

Serbia as a pioneer in manufacturing

He emphasized that Serbia is becoming a pioneer in the mass production of humanoid robots in Europe, saying that the country is gaining access to outside expertise but that he believes Serbia will learn quickly and eventually be able to share its knowledge both across the region and throughout Europe.

He added that there are three leading robot manufacturers in Europe.

“All of them together produce only a few hundred robots, while we hope that here in Šabac we will be able to produce 6,000 robots a year. Also, American robots cannot compare with this company or with what we are planning for the future.”

Particular emphasis was placed on plans to further expand production and develop Serbia’s technological infrastructure.

“This is a pioneering venture; this is only the beginning. Two hundred people will work here, but this is the initial investment. The main phase will come afterward, in Inđija, where there will be many more employees and a much larger investment. Only when we connect all of this with data centers and supercomputers will we gain enormous capabilities,” Vučić said while touring the humanoid robot factory in Šabac, which is opening today.

“Made in Serbia”

Aleksandar Vučić emphasized on the occasion that the robots would bear the label “Made in Serbia,” calling it a major undertaking.

“That’s right, 80 robots from here will go to EXPO, and soon we will reveal what else we will use these robots for,” President Vučić added.

Vučić also pointed to the potential applications of humanoid robots in various fields.

“We will have a significantly larger workforce than today. These robots have multiple applications, from healthcare, the economy and industry to the defense industry, as you will soon be able to see for yourselves. We have significant AI capabilities, digital centers for storing and preserving data, supercomputers, and together with this robot factory, we can reach unprecedented heights. We will reach the top of Europe! Serbia has stepped into the future today,” the president concluded.

Drone factory

In addition to humanoid robot production, Serbia is also developing capacities for the production and assembly of unmanned systems.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that he had opened a factory in Serbia for assembling Israeli drones. The facility is expected to employ around 100 workers and produce equipment for the Serbian Armed Forces as well as the armed forces of other countries.

“I am especially proud of Serbia and its achievements. I have opened a factory for assembling the most advanced Israeli-made drones, which will employ around 100 workers and produce state-of-the-art equipment both for the Serbian Armed Forces and the armed forces of some other countries,” the president said.

According to him, the plan is to expand cooperation with Israeli partners to other parts of Serbia as well.

“Our plans are huge. We believe that, together with our Israeli partners, we will open at least three more factories across Serbia,” Vučić wrote.

Serbia’s cooperation with the Israeli defense industry on drone production had previously been announced publicly, and the project involves cooperation between Serbia and Elbit Systems on the production of unmanned systems.

The development of these capabilities comes at a time when Serbia is simultaneously investing in various areas of advanced manufacturing — from robotics and artificial intelligence to unmanned systems and other cutting-edge technologies.
