"We expect to start demolishing a part of Block A after June 30, and then we'll see what we'll do with Block B," the defense minister said on Thursday.
He explained that this needs to be done "for the sake of safety of citizens of Belgrade and those employed in the Serbian Army and the MoD, who pass by these structures."
The minister also revealed that "the funds have been secured" for this work, and that the Institute for Protection of Monuments of Culture also gave its approval.
"I think that the design paperwork is now being finalized, and we are looking for pre-offers because in 2010, the asked price for the demolition of Block A was EUR 3 million," Gasic said, and added that authorities now expect the figure to be "ten times lower."
Will the US be receiving the bill for all this work? They were the ones who (illegally) created this destruction site. It's only right that they pay for it!

It took them FOREVER to do this! It's so sad how slow everything in this country is ! IKEA taking 5 years to build one store for got sake and a bombed building 16 odd years to demolish...... When will this country become normal ? Everything is so laggy and bureaucratic! Politicians say they'll do something in a year, it takes them 4 years! People are sick of their lives and this economy. We'll join the EU in 2014 they said, now they saying 2020, in 2020 they'll say we need 10 more years ?

The building to its right is quite attractive, so maybe the new building should be in a similar style, but different color bricks/stones and trim.
Put some anti-aircraft batteries on its roof! - Just kidding.
And I always think that Serbia should work more on having a good subway complex which goes under the Danube. In case of war, there'd be an alternate way instead of the bridges which are much more easily wrecked by bombs.

I wouldn't be surprised if NATO built its local office on that site. That is the sort of thing we can expect from Western Imperialists; they don't merely want to rule the world, they want to rub the noses of occupied peoples in Sh@t to show them who's the boss.

Should be left to commemorate the strength and perseverance against western imperialism for make benefit glorious nation of Serbia!
