BELGRADE -- Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has received an invitation to attend the "Friends of Serbia" meeting in Brussels on May 18, the government has announced.

Beside Vucic, the letter invites all EU foreign ministers to the May 18 gathering.
The letter "points out that Serbia has made good progress in preparing for the opening of negotiation chapters as well as that the continuation of dialogue with Pristina gave results," the government's website said.
The meeting "is an expression of support by Austria and Italy to accelerating Serbia's European path," the ambassadors told the Prime Minister.
Vucic "thanked Austria and Italy for their support and for the opportunity to once again prove in front of European partners that Serbia is a serious country, dedicated to fulfilling its main foreign policy priority - membership in the EU."
Serbia is committed to the European road and is doing everything to maintain political and economic stability of the region, he stressed.
Vucic presented the ambassador the latest economic indicators in the country, noting that economic reforms and fiscal consolidation measures are producing results and that the government of Serbia made the right choice when introducing those measure.
Invitations for the meeting "Friends of Serbia" on 18 May in Brussels was also sent to High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn.
