1. The countries in serious financial trouble are Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, US, UK and Italy.
    (sj, 1 July 2011 04:32)

I'd agree on Greece and some others that you mentioned... Indeed the people who put the money where their mouth is are asking interest rates in the double digit to lend money to the Greek government (if they lend it at all). But for US they are not seeing any financial crisis since they accept to lend money to the US governments at very low rates. Would you lend money at very low rates to somebody who is broke ?!!!!

  3. Talk about being behind the times. The participants in this talk fest all turned up in the hope of getting some dosh, but the US is so broke that it had to ask for contributions from the EU to hold the conference.

The days of wine and roses are over. The next crisis to start appearing in the media is the US, but naturally they will try and paper over it by getting an agreement between the Republicans and Democrats. The countries in serious financial trouble are Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, US, UK and Italy.

But here is the real clincher; the US government wants to increase the level of the deficit while at the same time set out a program of budget cuts to the tune of $1 trillion. However, this year’s budget deficit will be $1.6 trillion and next year’s will be $1.2.

If this is not called creative accounting then I don’t know what is! The real fact is that the US politicians cannot convince the people to tighten their belts considering it was the finance industry that created this mess and the people are left with paying for the excessive greed of friends of Republicans and Democrats.

To the participants of the knees up, enjoy while it lasts.

  4. Kosovo Foreign Minister Enver Hodzaj took part in this meeting "as a representative of an independent state", according to reports. it's not according to reports, but rather according to reality. Poor Vuk, he chickened out again. (Agim Kelmendi, 30 June 2011 12:56)

Really who cares whether vuk, tadic, or some other of their not so highly esteemed ministers shows up at a meeting? either learn to live with yr neighbors properly, or continue on yr path towards greater serbia and remain isolated. like in the 90s. same ole milosevic crap. actually slobo had much more diplomatic acumen than today's "democaratic" leaders, but he was and they are all severely ethically challeneged.

again, be sure to surf the net for valid, trustworthy sources of balkan news, such as balkan insight, bbc, helsinki committee, bosniaks.net, albanianpress.net, etc.

i want to add something about our frnd Branko Todorovic. he really is a very special guy and human rights pioneer, one of the few who have remained in so called RS. a great intellectual. and wonderful person. i had to laugh when he (supposedly) called natasa a "stalin." it might be a bit of an over-statement; she's not one of the great mass-murderers of the 20th century. but she is terribly autocratic (along with her deep, russian-like accent), and many of us in the human rights field have some strong reservations concerning REKOM. people will have to make up their own minds.

  10. Well Vuk still travels to Srpska aka Greater Serbia even when though he is not even invited in to the country of Bosnia i Herzegovina by Sarajevo government. Even though the majority of Bosnians loath Greater Serbias Vuk. When he is baned one day Vuk will pull out his Bosnian passport and say see Im a closet Bosnian go figure. I wonder what colonial village is "Srpskas" administration centre is it Pale ,Banja Luka or mother hive Belgrade it seems to shift. I know the minority Serbs wanted Sarajevo to be but could not murder ethnic cleanse its Bosnian inhabitants fast enough so they could pretentiously be legitimate.

No need to pity him. He didn't chicken out. He merely followed Serbia's state policy.

In fact, if he had caved in to this Yankee charade and attended the meeting, then he would have really chickened out! But he didn't in this case much to, I suspect, the chagrin of those Yankees and probably Pristina too.
