1. China has lifted the one child policy and soon they will need someplace to live. They didn't drop bombs on Montenegro or twist their arm like NATO. Who do you think they would rather have as a neighbor?

No, it does not affect the Albos since all infrastructure is being done in Serbia proper.
The issues you raised about Chinese investment are the same as your US would stipulate. You talk about import of Soya; well since China has stopped importing it the US is demanding that the EU buy its soya and the EU has agreed LOL. You understand now?????????
China is investing to expand its trade and small Serbia is taking advantage of that investment. Smart countries hang onto the coattails of someone that has money and the US of Piss and Wind does not.
Please stop living in the 1950s and talking about dictators or communists. When ever people from the US are unable to express themselves they always default to dictators etc. This is all US drivel since its “democratic” system has only had 2 parties in power for over 160 years.

Thanks sj, very constructive input from you as always.
You are correct that this also affects your beloved "Albos".

  4. China forgives the loan and takes ownership of the port. Congratulations, you have spent 2 billion and closed 100 schools to build a port for China.
Now you decide to import soy from Japan instead of China? Sorry, China will not let you.
    (Dwight, 30 July 2018 11:26)

When will you Albos stop talking crap? You have no idea what is going on but are only too eager to put your two cents worth, and that is all its worth two cents.

Stop worrying about Serbs and start worrying about your Albos in kosova since they live hand to mouth by relatives working menial jobs in teh EU and sending money back.

  5. @Sreten
The problem is not building infrastructure. The problem is that countries are taking unservicable loans to build infrastructure which is then handed over to China when they default on the loan.
No country should want to hand over control of important infrastructure to foreign country.

Say our country wants to build a port.
You estimate it will cost 2 billion but you cannot afford it.
Some country or bank offers you 2 billion loan at 4% over 30 years.
China offers to build you a 6 billion euro port with a loan at 1% over 30 years.
Your tin-pot dictator president accepts Chinese loan and tell his citizens about the great Chinese investment in the country.
After 10 years you cannot pay.
You cut the education and defence budget to try to hold on to the port but it is not enough.
China forgives the loan and takes ownership of the port. Congratulations, you have spent 2 billion and closed 100 schools to build a port for China.
Now you decide to import soy from Japan instead of China? Sorry, China will not let you.

Pete I have just heard on the grape vine that the EU shares your concersn and will allocate funds towards a donkey breeding program to help Albos kee Serbs under control. Serbs are terrified when bearded Albos holding pitchforks charge on trusty steads towards them.

    This is so funny.
If you want to be taken seriously don't ask for handouts.
Supply your own equipment and stand on your own two feet. Stop relying on NATO and then you can hope to be someone's partner.

  11. Offer even more attractive loans so that people in the Balkans can build infrastructure (and get few jobs too). and if they can't serve them turn them into capital!
    I don't understand the problem?

EU is like one of those partners who neglect their wife and kids, move on to other partners but refuse to let the wife get on with her life constantly interfering and confusing her.
I don't want you but I will not let anyone else have you either situation.
If you want China out of Balkans then you have to become a lot more attractive to Balkans.
But, first you have to prove you can be trusted again.

  12. Seriously eff off. If the EU was competent enough to ensure all the infrastructure it'd promised since the year 2000 were built china wouldn't be a problem.

We are literally not finished all these wonderful highways and railways, the EU was promising would be built by 2004 as soon as Slobo fell.

  13. You are right Peter - The rest of Serbia will not flinch one inch if you have ten times the weaponry... Or one hundred times... You can give a pistol to a pig, but it is not much use if they do not have the knowledge, or the guts, to use it.

  14. Mr. Hahn, you can't be taken seriously...

"...is more reason to be uneasy about China, which has made a series of significant investments in infrastructure projects there,"

They are building an infrastructure, roads and railways, and that is a matter of a great concern?

"This is exactly the case with this famous highway in Montenegro. And also this is a kind of pattern, or let'’s say business model, by the Chinese to offer attractive or more or less attractive loans and if you cannot serve them, it's turned into capital," Hahn said.

How do we counter this? Easy. MARKET!

Offer even more attractive loans so that people in the Balkans can build infrastructure (and get few jobs too). and if they can't serve them turn them into capital!
    I don't understand the problem?
