The helicopters, described as "latest generation," will be used by Serbia's army and police to carry out "the most demanding missions - transport, search and rescue, combat, medical evacuations, surveillance and reconnaissance," a statement quoted by Beta said.
The contract, whose value has not been disclosed, covers the nine helicopters and "a package of spare parts, tools and documentation, but also transfer of technology to maintain the craft."
It has also been agreed to provide equipment, training and certification to the Aviation Institute Moma Stanojlovic in Batajnica as the maintenance center for Gazelle helicopters, and to include the institute into the Airbus Helicopters repair network.
The signing on Thursday was also attended by representative of Airbus Group, and France's and Germany's ambassadors in Belgrade.
"How dose Serbia do it. O ya by cutting pensioners benefits and workers salary's by 10%. While the crooks like Nikolic steal rest of the money. By building two illegal houses on stolen citizens land"

Thank you for standing up for us ordinary serbs. Perhaps you should be our representative against Serbian politicians? Or maybe you shouldnt. You better keep representant the fascist views of most croats. That's what you do best.

In the spirit of fairness and balanced comment, maybe Russia should now voice their concern regarding Serbia purchasing such equipment from EU countries.

By building two illegal houses on stolen citizens land with his cronie buddy's. Also over a million euros "controlled" by his wife who dose not have a clue where it came from. Time to kick out the bums.

I know nothing about helicopters but Serbia should not be buying from NATO countries.
(Michael Thomas, 29 December 2016 16:43)
And where should Serbia buy them from?

If Serbia is again perceived as a bad boy, then it will again be sanctioned.
(Michael Thomas, 29 December 2016 16:43)
Of course, if Serbia behaves likes a bad boy, it will be punished like bad boys are punished. What do you expect?!
----------
NATO countries are not reliable partners and nothing of importance should be bought from them.
(Michael Thomas, 29 December 2016 16:43)
Well, as long as Serbia is a reliable partner, the NATO countries will be reliable partners. If Serbia becomes a non reliable partner, the NATO countries will become not reliable partners. That's pretty normal, no? What do you expect?!
(icj1, 30 December 2016 06:58)
Serbia really needs to start a culture of development and industry rather than buying foreign always. Use some of that cash to pay new grads a good salary and stay in Serbia to build our own.

I know nothing about helicopters but Serbia should not be buying from NATO countries. If Serbia is again perceived as a bad boy, then it will again be sanctioned. The most likely sanctions will be aimed at the army and police to prevent them from committing "Human rights abuses." These helicopters will require regular maintenance and need spare parts. The Iranians have lots of American aircraft and helicopters which they purchased during the 1970s which have been left to rust because American sanctioned Iran following the Islamic Revolution. I can see the same happening to Serbia. Suppliers to the government should be evaluated not merely on the quality of their product but also on their reliability as suppliers. NATO countries are not reliable partners and nothing of importance should be bought from them.
