"I am convinced that Kosovo has no future in the EU as an independent state, but only as Serbia's province," President Boris Tadic says. He told FoNet in an interview on Friday that the recent incidents in Kosovo confirm Serbia's position that human rights are not respected in the provinces, primarily those of non-Albanians, "Serbs above all". "Kosovo has no future in EU" "These illusions, that Kosovo under Albanian domination can become a respectable state and a civilized area, where people live freely regardless of their ethnicity, hold no water," Tadic said. "I am convinced that Kosovo has no future in the European Union as an independent state, but only as Serbia's province, as part of our country that Serbia is responsible for. I am convinced that perhaps now more than ever Serbia is responsible to see Kosovo as a region become a European space." He also stated that he expects the International Court of Justice to, in the coming years, deliberate Serbia's request to rule on the unilateral independence declaration, and believes that the outcome will be positive for Serbia. "I believe that at that point, the chances will grow for a return to the negotiating process, but not in order to destabilize the region. Serbia foes not wish conflict, but solutions that include development, sustainability and preservation of her territorial integrity," Tadic said. The president added that Serbia undertakes these actions having in mind a sustainable solution for Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo.
