A senior Slovak government official says his country will support the ratification of the SAA between Serbia and the EU. Belgrade and Brussels in early May signed the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), but the EU immediately suspended it, pending results in Serbia's cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. Slovakia supports Serbia over SAA "Serbia will have our full backing with the forthcoming ratification of the SAA with the EU," Slovak government Vice President Dusan Caplovic said yesterday as he met with Vojvodina provincial representatives. He also announced closer economic ties, and appraised Vojvodina's growth potential as "huge". Vojvodina's executive council vice-president Ana Tomanova-Makanova said that the province's main goals are economic development and lower unemployment figures. She thanked the Slovak authorities for establishing the Bratislava Belgrade Fund, that is used to finance development projects in Vojvodina. Slovak Ambassador to Serbia Igor Fudik also attended the meeting in Novi Sad yesterday.
