Beta reported this on Monday, citing the latest issue of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia.

The decision to give Fiennes Serbia's citizenship was signed by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic on September 7.

Fiennes is currently filming a movie in Belgrade dedicated to legendary ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev.

In 2010, he filmed his Coriolanus in Serbia.

Fiennes was among the guests at the inauguration earlier this year of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
