International air show kicks off in Belgrade

The International Batajnica 2012 Air Show started on Sunday at the Batajnica military airport.

Representatives from 16 countries and 27 aircrafts are taking part in the show.

Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolić said at the opening of the air show that he expected the government to invest in the renewal of the military resources.

The air show started with an exhibition of plane models and Serbian Army (VS) pilots then flew over the airport in Galeb planes and painted the Serbian flag in the sky.

The audience also had an opportunity to see Orao planes in action as well as MiG-29 and MiG-2 aircrafts.

Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters also drew a lot of attention from the crowd.

The air show was aside from the president attended by Deputy PM and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, numerous ministers, Chief of the VS General Staff General Ljubiša Diković, former Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac, representatives of the diplomatic corps and religious leaders.
