Police go on “white strike” at crossings with Kosovo

Independent Trade Union of Police members are staging a protest at the administrative crossings with Kosovo in the municipality of Bujanovac. The police have decided to express their satisfaction by stepping up control of vehicles. Police go on “white strike” at crossings with Kosovo “Vehicles are held up to hour and a half due to the so-called white strike,” Independent Trade Union of Police representative Branislav Mirosavljevic has stated. “Aside from the ‘white strike’ regime at the administrative crossings toward Kosovo and Metohija, the entire police station in Bujanovac is on strike. Neither criminal nor traffic police are working and neither are the administrative affairs,” he stressed. Independent Trade Union of Police representative in the Vranje Police Administration Marjan Petrovic told Beta news agency that the union members had been on strike since December 12 and that they had stopped the strike for five hours on Sunday due to Interior Minister Ivica Dacic’s visit to southern Serbian towns of Vranje and Vladicin Han. “I spoke to the minister about the police employees’ requests for ending of the strike but the agreement was not reached and the Independent Trade Union of Police will remain on strike until a condition that a bonus, approved until June next year, is made a part of the 30 percent increase in wages,” Petrovic stressed.
