Tadić denounces Dodik "witch hunt"

BELGRADE -- President Boris Tadić has vehemently condemned the “daily witch hunt” against Republic of Srpska (RS) Prime Minister Milorad Dodik.

The witch hunt is being pursued with a view to sullying his personal and professional integrity, reads a statement from the president’s press office.

“Argumented dialogue over Bosnia-Hercegovina’s internal governance is the only way to reach a democratic solution,” said Tadić.

“No repeat of the recent past should be permitted, when democratic procedure was substituted by instrumentalization of the judiciary for political ends,” he added.

The president stressed that “Serbia firmly endorses a stable RS, and hence Bosnia-Hercegovina too,” adding that constitutional changes in the country were only possible with the agreement of democratically elected legitimate representatives of the three constitutive peoples—the Serbs, Bosniaks and Croats.

Tadić reiterated that the RS, as a guarantor of the Dayton Accords, supported Bosnia-Hercegovina’s territorial integrity in principle and unambiguously, the statement concluded.
