Jeremic "did something no other UNSG candidate has done"

Serbia's candidate Vuk Jeremic, the country's former foreign minister and former president of the UN general assembly, is described as a candidate who "wants to shake up the sclerotic organization" and one who "produced a detailed policy platform containing 53 specific commitments which he 'intends to implement from Day One' - no candidate for SG has ever done this before."

The "verdict" when it comes to Jeremic is this: "Dynamic, capable, knows the system."

Portugal's Antonio Guterres, who currently leads in informal polls organized by the UN Security Council, is a former high UN commissioner for refugees whose vision is seen by the website as "focusing on the new global threats of terrorism, organized crime, trafficking and epidemics" as well as "using the UN to combat them, through peace and security, sustainable development and human rights policies – and emphasizing prevention rather than cure."

Guterres' "verdict" is this: "Expert on refugees – one of the key issues facing the world. Safe pair of hands."

The "vision" of Slovakia's Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak is seen as "making the UN more accountable, dynamic and transparent." The "verdict" concerning this candidate: "Currently deeply involved in post-Brexit EU, with his country holding the rotating EU presidency. Has been second placed in the two most-recent of the four polls."

The article also mentioned EU official and Bulgarian diplomat Kristalina Georgieva as somebody whom "many expect to throw her hat in the ring," considering that "the UN has stated it is high time for a woman to lead the organization."

As for the Bulgarian woman who is a candidate at this time - UNESCO chief Irina Bokova - her vision is about "uniting all for peace, sustainability and dignity, preventing conflict, bringing together countries to work against extremism, empowering women and providing strong global leadership."

The British website's "verdict" is as follows: "Uninspiring. Seen as possibly being too close to Russia for the liking of some on the Security Council."
