KFOR today told northern Kosovo Serbs that its commander decided only vehicles of up to 3.5 tons may enter Kosovo from central Serbia by alternative routes. Head of the Zvecan municipality Dragisa Milovic told reporters after the meeting that the leaders of local self-governments in the north of the province had told the NATO troops that the decision was unacceptable. Serbs find ban on trucks unacceptable “We expect from Colonel Adolf Konrad, who met with us, to convey to higher officials our stance on the hazards of such a decision,” he said. Commenting on today's stopping of a column of KFOR vehicles, among which were two vehicles of EULEX, which continued on their course after more than two hours of hold in the village of Banov Do near Zvecan, Milovic said that KFOR had assured them that the force would not escort EULEX vehicles if Kosovo customs officers were in those vehicles. “We expect that they will honor the decision and the word they gave and it will surely ease the situation regarding EULEX in some way or other,” said Milovic. He added that representatives of the Serbs in northern Kosovo expected from EULEX to give them assurances that they would not be transporting Kosovo's customs officers to the Brnjak and Jarinje administrative crossings with the mission's vehicles. The regular meeting in Zvecan was attended by Head of the Mitrovica District Radenko Nedeljkovicc representing the Serbs, and by representatives of KFOR, UNMIK, EULEX and the OSCE.
