The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has accused the government of promoting a new economic doctrine “privileges at any cost” with the draft budget for 2012. The party has assessed that the budget for 2012 will be “destructive instead of developmental”. Opposition SNS criticizes 2012 budget draft “The draft budget sets preconditions for further impoverishment of the Serbian citizens, additional debts, so the political class would preserve all the privileges and get new ones, because the budget envisages jobs for 3,000 people in the public sector,” SNS official Marko Djuric has said. He told a press conference that Serbia’s public finances were run in accordance with the ruling class’ interests and aspirations to preserve privileges to the detriment of the Serbian citizens who were becoming poorer every day. The SNS official added that Serbia had not had a final account in the last eight years and that it was the only country in which nobody was held responsible for abuses of the budget. He stressed that the SNS would not make any compromises with the “corrupt political class in Serbia” before or after the elections. “SNS’ main political goal in the next elections is to take down the corrupt political elite embodied in the Democratic Party and a group of tycoons, controversial businesspeople and all others who have been dragging Serbia to the bottom in the last 20 years,” Djuric concluded.
