Deputy U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Jennifer Brush expects the arrival of the new administration in Washington to offer a chance for better relations with Serbia. The U.S. embassy in Belgrade organized a live screening of the inauguration of new U.S. President Barack Obama yesterday. Many guests watched the direct broadcast from Washington, including politicians and representatives from the media, NGOs and religious communities. “Hope for better U.S.-Serbia relations” Brush said that there were many issues that the U.S. and Serbia agreed on, adding that Washington would support Serbia in its European integration and in its efforts to maintain stability in the Balkans. “I very emotionally and sincerely urge the Serbs to work together on the challenges that we face, which are solving the economic crisis, Serbian EU accession, and achieving energy stability in Serbia and the region, among other things,” she said. “I think that there was quite a bit in the papers about the fact that there will not be many changes in U.S. foreign policy, but I think that there will be big changes and hope, not only in America but in Serbia and the world. If Obama can be the president of America, a lot of things in the world can change for the better,” Brush said.
