At least 33 people lost their lives in the U.S. and Canada, according to reports. Storm blamed for dozens of deaths in eastern parts of U.S. The hurricane, dubbed Sandy, that turned into a post-tropical storm last night, reached the coast of New Jersey. Before that, the AFP reports that the storm claimed the lives of 67 people in the Caribbean. Atlantic City was the hardest hit, with the downtown and much of the rest of the city completely submerged in water. Most inhabitants have been evacuated. New York also saw flooding, including the entire lower Manhattan. The water is in some parts exceeded four meters. A total of 1.37 million New Yorkers were left without power, while in New Jersey this number reached a million people. The situation was somewhat better in the regions of Washington and Baltimore, where it is estimated that 400,000 had no electricity. The hurricane is on Tuesday expected to hit parts of New England, north of New York.
