China firmly opposes U.S. weapon sales to Taiwan, and Washington will put its relations with Beijing at risk in the case of a new arms delivery. "We urge the US to strictly abide by the principles and spirits of the three joint communiques and the Joint Statement between China and the U.S.," China's Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said on Monday, Xinhua reported. China: U.S. must stop selling arms to Taiwan At a press conference organized during the session of the National People's Congress, Yang called on the US to take concrete actions to support the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations. He underscored that it is important to support overall interests of Chinese-U.S. relations. "Atmosphere between China and the U.S. is currently positive, but it is an objective reality that the countries have some differences and even frictions over some issues," Yang said.
