Over 500 performers, 81 concerts on ten stages, and numerous other programs make up this year's Nisville international jazz festival, which opens Thursday and runs through August 18. Over 500 Performers and 81 Concerts at Nisville The Nis festival has once again attracted big names on the jazz scene such as Ginger Baker, Hubert Tubbs, Kyle Eastwood, German DJ/producer collective Jazzanova, Marius Neset, Ron Carter, Dusko Gojkovich and many more. This year's lifetime achievement award will be presented to Stjepko Gut, who will open the festival, while Ginger Baker is the recipient of the Saban Bajramovic award. Ron Carter will take home the award for contribution to jazz, and a special prize for the promotion of jazz has been bestowed on Clint Eastwood and will be accepted by his son Kyle who will perform in Nis with his band, said festival director Ivan Blagojevic. Concerts in Pirot, Vranje, Arandjelovac, Zajecar and Krusevac will be an extension of the festival, said Blagojevic. These five towns are part of the "Nis and partners" program in Nis's bid for the European Capital of Culture in 2020. /Tanjug, file/ Tanjug
