Remains of four Serbian royals laid to rest

The remains of King Petar II, his wife Queen Aleksandra, mother Queen Marija and brother Prince Andrej were laid to rest in Oplenac, central Serbia, on Sunday.

TOPOLA The remains of King Petar II, his wife Queen Aleksandra, mother Queen Marija and brother Prince Andrej were laid to rest in Oplenac, central Serbia, on Sunday. The remains of the four members of the Kradjordjevic royal family were buried in the royal family crypt of the Church of St. George with highest state honors. Remains of four Serbian royals laid to rest The Serbian Army (VS) Guard carried the coffin of King Petar II into the crypt while the other three coffins were carried by members of the Kingdom of Serbia Association. Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, cabinet ministers and members of the Kradjordjevic royal family, members of the diplomatic corps, Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik and numerous citizens attended the funeral. Serbian Patriarch Irinej held the holy liturgy. The remains of King Petar II were transferred to Serbia from the U.S. in January. The remains of his wife Queen Aleksandra were transferred to Serbia from Greece, his mother Queen Marija from Great Britain and his younger brother Prince Andrej from the U.S. (Tanjug) Beta Tanjug

The Serbian Army (VS) Guard carried the coffin of King Petar II into the crypt while the other three coffins were carried by members of the Kingdom of Serbia Association.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić, Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, cabinet ministers and members of the Krađorđević royal family, members of the diplomatic corps, Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik and numerous citizens attended the funeral.

Serbian Patriarch Irinej held the holy liturgy.

The remains of King Petar II were transferred to Serbia from the U.S. in January. The remains of his wife Queen Aleksandra were transferred to Serbia from Greece, his mother Queen Marija from Great Britain and his younger brother Prince Andrej from the U.S.
