BELGRADE Most of the fires that have been raging across Serbia for the last several days are today under control. New fires broke out in southern Serbia, near the towns of Leskovac, Vlasotince and Medvedja. Wildfires continue to blaze across Serbia The firemen have managed to stop the fire on Mt. Tara from spreading. Several thousands of firemen, Serbian Army (VS) and Gendarmerie officers and numerous volunteers were putting out the fire near Zaovine and Mokra Gora last night. Serbian police (MUP) Emergency Situations Sector Chief Predrag Maric says that three Russian planes and two helicopters are expected to have as many flights as possible on Sunday in order to finally put the fire under control. A fire that broke out in Bulgaria last night spread to Serbia near the Vrska Cuka border crossing. Inaccessible terrain and wind are making it difficult for firemen to extinguish the fire.
