TARA Cooler temperatures and rain helped firefighters extinguish and put wildfires across Serbia under control last night. The fire on Mt. Tara has been put out almost completely. Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic is expected to visit the burned down areas on Mt. Tara on Monday. Cooler temperatures, rain help put fires under control 398 fires were registered in Serbia on Sunday and wind made it difficult for firemen to fight the fires. The fire on Mt. Suvobor in central Serbia started again on Sunday but it was quickly put out. The situation was the most difficult on Mt. Tara where fire spread to 1,000 hectares of forest. An evacuation of the local residents was prepared but the authorities did not go through with it after the fire was put under control. Serbian police (MUP) Emergency Situations Sector Chief Predrag Maric expects that the firefighters would be successful in putting out the fire on Mt. Tara on Monday morning. He added that two Russian planes would take part in the operation on Monday. A state of emergency was declared in the eastern town of Zajecar on Sunday due to a fire that broke out near the border with Bulgaria. However, the fire was completely localized on Monday morning.
