In a statement for B92 immediately after his victory, Cavic stressed that he is happy with this accomplishment, but that real challenges lie ahead with the 100-meter race. "I am proud to wear the Serb jersey and the Serb cap, because it's simply not easy to be on this level and take part in the finals. The pressure is huge and I certainly couldn't have done this alone. I know that Serbia supported me and I did all this for Serbia," said the world champion. "It's a fantastic feeling to be the first gold medalist in world championships for Serbia, but I would say that I don't see this triumph as a great success, since I'm too focused on the 100-meter butterfly. I would be so happy to win gold. I dream about being welcomed in Belgrade once again," said Cavic, who also took time to meet with a group of fans who traveled from Serbia to support him. He will now have plenty of time to rest and prepare for the races in the 100-meter butterfly category. The new world champion said he has "a good feeling" about swimming the next race – that will see competition from Michael Phelps of the United States – in under 50 seconds. Qualifications and semifinals will be held on Friday, while the final race is scheduled for Saturday, August 1. Cavic celebrates his victory (Beta/AP)
