It has been mixed for Serbia’s tennis stars at Wimbledon today, with fourth seed Novak Djokovic through to round 3, but Janko Tipsarevic going out to Mardy Fish. After a hard-fought first set that he eventually took on a tie-break, Djokovic stamped his authority on the match at the beginning of the second set, eventually winning 3-0 (7-5, 6-1, 6-4). With both players struggling to hold their service, the American took the first set 6-4 in 39 minutes. Tipsarevic rallied in the second set, serving better, and harrying his opponent into a series of unforced errors, before taking the set 6-3 to level the match. The third was more one-sided, as Tipsarevic, complaining of shoulder pains, struggled to maintain his earlier rhythm, allowing Fish to stroll to a 6-1 victory. The Serbian no.3 seemed to have rediscovered his game in the fourth, fighting back from a break down to level the match at 3-3. But, just when it seemed a comeback was on the cards, Fish broke again in the ninth game, taking advantage of a series of Tipsarevic unforced errors, before serving out for the match.
