Today marks the 40th anniversary of the 1968 student demonstrations in Belgrade, that were part of a wave of similar protests taking place worldwide.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the 1968 student demonstrations in Belgrade, that were part of a wave of similar protests taking place worldwide. The protests started in Belgrade’s student campus on the night of June 2-3, 1968 and lasted nine days. 40th anniversary of student protests To mark the anniversary, an exhibition will be opened in the Belgrade Historical Archive entitled “40 years/Student protests 1968-2008.” An attractive multimedia project will be showcased where members of the public will be able to see documentation relating to the protests, as well as a 15-minute film by Zelimir Zilnik called "Lipanjska Gibanja," while video material will be screened on six large monitors of events such as the anti-Vietnam war protests, as well as posters and other material from student protests. Visitors will be given a pamphlet to serve as a guide, featuring photographs, facsimiles of documents, and lyrics to student songs and chants.
