Chief Hague Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte will report on Serbia’s progress in cooperating with the Hague Tribunal shortly. Her spokesperson Olga Kavran said that after Del Ponte’s visit to Belgrade at the end of last week, the chief prosecutor spoke briefly via telephone with European Union Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn. Del Ponte to submit progress report soon “They agreed not to discuss the visit in the media until an all-encompassing report is given to the EU, which should happen within the next several weeks, though there is no exact date yet,” Kavran said at a regular briefing at the Hague Tribunal, according to Voice of America. Kavran said that it is not clear whether Del Ponte will be traveling to Brussels to submit the report. The fate of Serbia's first step toward membership in the EU, the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) hangs in the balance. A positive report from Del Ponte would mean that Belgrade and Brussels would likely sign the document by the end of the year.
