Former army reservists from Kursumlija and other neighboring towns have blocked the Municipal Court in that city. The veterans have been occupying the town hall since last Thursday when they started a hunger strike, demanding do be paid for their service in Kosovo during the 1999 conflict. At the same time, a group of reservists blocked the work of the municipal authorities. They have been joined by several hundred veterans from other southern Serbian municipalities, including Nis, Prokuplje, Blace, Brus and Aleksandrovac. Organizers of the protest say they will appeal to the government and the Defense Ministry in an attempt to be reimbursed for wages whose payment has been put on hold now for eight years.
