Dodik thanks Putin and Lavrov for Russian veto

"Not only did you prevent a baseless and unjust labeling of the Serb people as genocidal, but your vote warded off a further destabilization of the region," the leader of the Serb entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina said in his letters to Putin and Lavrov.

Dodik pointed out that the RS never denied that a major crime took place in Srebrenica in July 1995, but stressed that it must be regarded in the context of earlier crimes committed between 1992 and 1995 against 3,500 Serbs in the area.

Unfortunately, the crimes against Serbs were never prosecuted by the international courts or the courts of Bosnia , added Dodik.

Russia's vote in the UNSC gave hope that the truth about the plight of Serbs in Srebrenica and across Bosnia will one day come to light, the RS president said.

"Your vote in the UN Security Council was the voice of reason, justice and compassion with all victims in Bosnia, regardless of their religion or nationality," said Dodik, and thanked Russia for its principled position on continued implementation of the Dayton Peace Accords.
