About 50,000 people, in the last 14 years, have disowned their Bosnian citizenship, according to media in Banja Luka. According to data from the Civil Affairs Ministry, since 1996, 49,154 people have disowned their Bosnian citizenship. About 50,000 disowned Bosnian citizenship Ministry spokesperson Zorica Rulj said that most citizens abandoned their citizenships in 2003, while there were 807 people who did so this year. The reasons behind this are not known, because the citizens are not obligated to state their reasons when doing so, the ministry added.
