Croatia has dismissed the Hague's claims that it is obstructing the trial of the three generals accused of war crimes. In June, the prosecution asked the trial chamber to issue a binding order for the delivery of documentation and diaries linked to the activities of the special police during Operation Storm, since the Zagreb authorities were obstructing cooperation with the Hague. Croatian Ambassador to Holland Frane Krinc said yesterday that the request was “unnecessary and unfounded“, and that Zagreb was cooperating fully with the Tribunal, Croatian media report. “Croatia has no reason not to submit documentation to the prosecution or the court if the competent authorities are able to locate it in their archives,“ said Krinc, adding that those documents would merely corroborate the claims of the Croatian side that there had been no breach of the rules of war during Storm.
