Montenegrin Deputy PM for EU Integration Gordana Djurovic met with Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel. Slovenia will continue to support Montenegro's efforts to join the EU, Rupel said after talks Wednesday with Djurovic. Slovenia pledges support for Montenegrin EU bid Montenegro's efforts are properly conceived, concentrated and focused, Rupel said, noting that Slovenia had made it a priority of its EU presidency to support the EU ambitions of all countries in the Western Balkans. "We hope that our Montenegrin friends will use the time of our presidency to speed up the accession to the EU," he added. Djurovic, who believes that Montenegro is well on its way to join the EU, said the country would continue to pursue a proactive policy and try to fulfill all commitments in the accession process. "We are setting our goals within the limits of realistic ambitions," she said, noting that Montenegro had so far honored all of its commitments. Djurovic said she was satisfied with talks today, saying they showed that Slovenia's EU presidency was important for the region. "We believe that Slovenia's presidency is a good moment to reinforce the process of European integration in the region and that we try to produce concrete results." "Montenegro is ready to do it together," Djurovic said when asked when Montenegro would apply for EU membership.
