Aleksandar Vulin has asked the EU to increase financial assistance to Serbia intended for the care of migrants, but also help in controlling borders.

According to the Serbian government, Vulin said after the meeting that he informed Avramopoulos that the Balkan migrant route, "although politically and formally closed," is still very active."Migrants still go through Serbia and are now staying longer in our country," he warned, reiterating concern about the lack of a common reaction of the European Union on the migrant problem.
He said an agreement was reached to work together on how to strengthen the control of our borders, in order to remove the pressure from the Ministry of the Interior and the Serbian Army.
Vulin "expressed gratitude to Avramopoulos for the personal commitment and support to Serbia in the migrant crisis, adding that there are between six and seven thousand refugees in Serbia right now."
He said that Avramopoulos gave him personal support and promised him that the EU will help Serbia both in financial terms and in border control.
