The police confirmed that the Molotov cocktail was thrown at the Kosovo president's office, Tanjug quoted Serbian state broadcaster RTS.

The attack took place at around 4 a.m. Saturday, involving several masked people.

"First they hurled stones, breaking the window, and then they tried to throw a Molotov cocktail inside the office, but it ended up on the wall which now bears the marks of fire," the police said.

Local police arrived at the site immediately. No one was injured in the attack.

The office of President Atifete Jahjaga is on the first floor of the Kosovo assembly building which is under constant police watch.

Beta news agency reported that a group of calling itself "Dissatisfied Citizens" took responsibility for the incident in a letter send to TV Clan that contained "many grammatical and spelling errors," and that declared: "After many our actions last night we also set the Assembly of Kosovo on fire."

The attack was condemned by Jahjaga, the government, the assembly's president, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, and the Initiative for Kosovo, Beta said.
