"There is no compromise, Serbia will have to go into the future, to preserve friendships, but the path and the type of society which we want to belong to is clear, there is no discussion or compromise there," said Vucic.

He expressed his thanks to what he said was a small number of people who supported the difficult reforms, and said that "we need to unite knowledge and access, while we can continue the path of reform and revitalize the economy only with a more honest approach."

In this sense, he said, he was thanking the Association of Economists and its President Aleksandar Vlahovic, "who have, without counting on any kind of personal or political interest, supported Serbian government's measures, which were difficult, unpopular, but allowed for the fiscal consolidation, the moving to the second place in the Doing Business list of the World Bank, the praise of international financial institutions, as well as some increase, that is, return (to the previous level) of salaries and pensions that had been cut."

"Everyone would like to see everything we planned done, but by somebody else, and that just can't happen," said Vucic, adding he was "precisely for that reason especially grateful to that small number of people who have supported our measures."
