BELGRADE The EU is planning on organizing another round of the Belgrade-Pristina negotiations by April 16, daily Vecernje novosti writes. Daily Blic writes that EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton could visit Belgrade on April 17. Daily: One more round of talks is possible The new round of talks could be held if Belgrade and Pristina brought their positions closer so an agreement would be certain. Top Serbian officials have already received signals from certain centers of power that Brussels is ready to continue the talks despite the Serbian government’s decision not to accept the EU’s offer on northern Kosovo. Vecernje novosti’s sources say that Ashton has already contacted Berlin, Paris, London and Rome in order to get precise political guidelines for further steps. She is waiting for instructions whether to hold the ninth round of the negotiations by April 16 when she is supposed to present a report on progress in the dialogue, according to the daily. It is also possible that she will organize a mini-tour and a series of meetings with politicians in Belgrade and Pristina after she has presented the report. According to the daily, the visits will take place between April 16 and April 22 when Ashton will present her report to the EU foreign ministers. Blic, however, writes that the Serbian government still has not received any indication as to the form of the next round of the dialogue. Serbian PM Ivica Dacic said on Tuesday that Serbia was ready to continue the dialogue with Pristina but he added that so far there had been no contacts regarding the continuation. According to him, Serbia believes it is possible to reach a compromise in the Belgrade- Pristina dialogue. “There is still room for Serbia to make a step toward its EU integration and get a positive sign from Brussels for the start of the EU negotiations but the top state officials in Belgrade need to take seriously its position and role in reaching an agreement with Pristina and in the implementation if an agreement is reached,” daily Danas has quoted several well-informed sources as saying.
