Serbia and Macedonia "ready for EU negotiations"

The parliament speakers of Serbia and Macedonia, Nebojša Stefanović and Trajko Veljanoski, say that their countries have met "all the conditions for EU entry".

BELGRADE The parliament speakers of Serbia and Macedonia, Nebojsa Stefanovic and Trajko Veljanoski, say that their countries have met "all the conditions for EU entry". The two officials, who met in Belgrade on Monday, concluded that Serbia and Macedonia both "thus deserved to get a starting date for EU accession talks in June." Veljanoski noted that Serbia and Macedonia have always had good cooperation, which was confirmed by recent visits of Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic to Skopje. He announced a conference of parliament speakers of the countries of South-Eastern Europe that should be held in Ohrid in May, which will be aimed at adopting a document on cooperation in the region. “Regional cooperation is significant on the economic and political planes, and there is room for expanding economic cooperation,” Veljanoski said, underlining that Macedonia's doors are open to Serbian companies.
