BELGRADE The Serbian parliament on Monday started a new extraordinary session with 11 items on the agenda, including the dismissal of Nata Mesarovic. He also explained that parliament would not appraise Mesarovic's performance, but was instead under obligation to respect the decisions already reached by the Constitutional Court of Serbia. The Constitutional Court ruled that the judge's appointment to the Court of Cassation was unconstitutional. Asked whether Mesarovic would attend the debate, Petrovic said that Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic would decide on whom to invite to the session. The committee headed by Petrovic on Monday convened and accepted the proposal to dismiss the judge, forwarding it to MPs. On January 23, the High Judicial Council (VSS) decided to recommend to the Serbian parliament to end the mandate of Mesarovic. The council was acting on a suggestion filed by Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic, who referred to the Constitutional Court ruling, made in December of last year. The Constitutional Court said the article of the Law on Judges, based on which Mesarovic was appointed, was unconstitutional. She was elected to the office in November 2009, before the court was even formed. The Supreme Court of Cassation started its work on January 1, 2010. The debate on this is expected to take place on Wednesday or Thursday, according to Chairman of the Committee on Justice, State Administration and Local Self-Government Petar Petrović.

He also explained that parliament would not appraise Mesarović's performance, but was instead under obligation to respect the decisions already reached by the Constitutional Court of Serbia.
