Nikolic to start talks with parties on Monday The Democratic Party (DS)-led coalition still has time until Monday to inform the president whether it has secured the majority or not. “I will start talks with parliamentary parties and this is my constitutional and legal obligation and I will first invite the SNS delegation to talk about it and I will give them some time to try to form the government, then I will call the DS representatives,” Nikolic stressed. “Of course, I cannot do anything before September, because it is a deadline until which they can negotiate but I think that I am expressing the public will with this public pressure because many things are being justified with the fact that Serbia is living in some vacuum in which there is no government, and I don’t mean just Kosovo I also mean the economic situation,” he added. Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic said in Banja Luka on Saturday that there was still no parliamentary majority. Republic of Srpska (RS) President said that he was against the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) joining the government. LDP leader Cedomir Jovanovic said in a written statement that thousands of Serbs in northern Kosovo were in danger while Dodik was patronizing Serbia from Banja Luka. “We are warning the RS president that he cannot threaten Serbia with deterioration of relations on behalf of his citizens if the composition of the next government does not suit him personally. Therefore we believe that it would be best for Dodik and those Serbian politicians who are afraid of him to start acting rationally or to take responsibility for a disaster that they are condemning seven million of Serbian citizens to,” Jovanovic noted. In the meantime, there have been speculations that the future Serbian government will have between 15 and 17 ministries. B92
