Boris Tadic has conceded defeat adn congratulated his opponent Tomislav Nikolic on the victory in the presidential election runoff. Tadic, leader of the Democratic Party (DS), served as Serbia's president for two mandates since 2004, and was on Sunday seeking his third term in office. Tadic concedes defeat, "won't be next PM" Serbia's citizens decided that Tomislav Nikolic will be the new Serbian president and I congratulate him on the achievement, Tadic said. “The victory was earned in a fair battle, and I wish him all the best,” Tadic said. click for more photos Tadic added that he would "certainly not assume the prime minister's seat", while the talks about forming Serbia's new government should begin tomorrow. The coalition gathered around the Democratic Party (DS), led by Tadic, and the one around the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), agreed in the wake of the May 6 parliamentary polls to form a coalition government together. Tonight, Tadic noted that "it would not be good for Serbia if the Socialist Party of Serbia changed their previous position and entered into a coalition government with the SNS, just as it would be bad if a non-functional cohabitation was formed".
