MEP Doris Pack has assessed that the referendum in northern Kosovo will have a negative impact on Serbia’s EU integration process. She told Novi Sad-based daily Dnevnik that results of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue were not visible in the field, which was one of conditions for Serbia to get the EU candidate status. “Referendum bad for EU integration” “Unfortunately, I at the moment do not see that anything has changed in the meantime,” Pack was quoted as saying. She, however, supported European Council’s recommendation to grant Serbia the EU candidate status in March. According to her, only a confirmation of good will in relations with Kosovo is expected from Belgrade is at the moment. “However, we should all keep in mind that Kosovo’s breakup with Serbia is a direct consequence of apartheid that Slobodan Milosevic’s regime carried out in Kosovo.
